About the 9th Illustration Biennale

The National Illustration Biennale CIB is a national illustration competition held since 2007 and has been successfully held for eight sessions. The 9th National Illustration Biennale is guided by the Publicity Department of the CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee, Shenzhen Innovation and Creative Design Development Office, Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports, and the Ministry of Education Vocational School Art Design Professional Teaching Guidance Committee, hosted by the National Illustration Biennale Organizing Committee and Shenzhen Illustration Association, and supported by the Shenzhen Publicity and Culture Development Special Fund.

Looking back at the 8 illustration biennials in the past 16 years, CIB has redefined illustration, and its scale and influence have been increasing year by year. There are more than 30,000 participants, covering 26 provinces, 4 municipalities, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan in the mainland; there are more than 300,000 sets of entries, and nearly 5,000 sets of shortlisted works. It has been exhibited in Shenzhen, Shanghai, Wuhan, Xi'an, Chengdu, Yantai, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Macao, Dongguan, Zhuhai, Guilin, Fuzhou, Nanchang and Tokyo, Japan, fully demonstrating the power of original Chinese illustrations. After 16 years of trials, CIB has been recognized by the international illustration community. Professional organizations and international judges from all over the world have fully affirmed the great progress of Chinese illustrations in recent years, making it the most professional, largest, highest-level and most influential biennial exhibition in the domestic illustration art industry.

About Shenzhen Illustration Association

Shenzhen Illustration Association (SIA) is the first illustration industry association registered with the Chinese Civil Affairs Department. It is a highly influential professional illustration resource platform in China, with 65,000 registered illustrators. Since its establishment in 2007, SIA has held eight National Illustration Biennials (CIBs) and a series of illustration exhibitions and industry events. After 16 years of development, the National Illustration Biennial has become a highly influential, professional, large-scale and high-level biennial exhibition in the domestic illustration art industry.
